Kundalini Practices during Pregnancy

Many of you that follow my journey and work with me know that Kundalini is a foundation to everything I do. It was a practice that landed into my physical space while I was living out in Vancouver many years ago. At first I was wondering what did I get myself into and why are we moving like this. But the feeling after class was like nothing I have ever experienced. Then the unravelling happened and I began to study and dive deeper into the teachings from Yogi Bhajan.

It is a beautiful practice to strengthen the nervous system and balance the endocrine system along with many other benefits. But specifically with pregnancy this practice can prepare your body, assist with letting go of fear, elevate your babies consciousness, and guide you through a journey of honouring the maiden to welcome in the mother.

Pregnancy is an initiation process for a woman. It’s a process of walking into the unknown, surrendering who you once thought you were, and welcoming in a more radiant and alive version of yourself. Pregnancy is sacred, beautiful, and transformational.

Here are a couple practices I’ve loved so far.

  1. Kirtan Kriya: For New Beginnings and welcoming in the first trimester and the little cosmos. By stimulating each finger tip as your chant allows your body to balance the electromagnetic projection of the aura and welcome in NEW. I find this meditation practice to be very calming and grounding.

    Chant Meaning:

    SAA: Infinity, cosmos, beginning

    TAA: Life, existence

    NAA: Death, change, transformation

    MAA: Rebirth

  2. Adi Shakti Meditation: We are having a little boy and a divine teacher recommended this practice to us for the month 6/7 as Yogi Bhajan called this time in pregnancy as a “acid bath”. Meaning a mixture of hormones that would program the man to become more of a hunter and gather in the primitive times freezing his intuitive/creative side so he could focus on his mission to gather and hunt. When the mantra is chanted the man is thought to become more creative and intuitive in many aspects of his life. Creating an aquarian man with both his natural hunter and gather instincts along with being highly intuitive and honouring his creative side. When women who are pregnant with girls chant this mantra it is thought to enhance their primal power of shakti energy to be aware of her destiny.

    Mantra:

    Adi Shakti, Adi Shakti, Adi Shakti, Namo, Namo
    (I bow to the Primal Power)
    Sarb Shakti, Sarb Shakti, Sarb Shakti, Namo, Namo
    (I bow to the all-encompassing Power and Energy)

    (I bow to that which God creates)
    Kundalini Mata Shakti, Mata Shakti, Namo, Namo
    (I bow to the creative power of the Kundalini, the Divine Mother Power)

I am now 31 weeks pregnant today and will be embarking on meditations and practices that support and enhance the birth/labor of our little one. Working with my breath to move through the pressures and discomfort that will come with labor and embracing the energy that surrounds letting go and surrendering to this new chapter.

The 3 Rituals that You May be Overlooking in Your Conception/Fertility Journey:

Conception/Fertility in my experience in more than balanced hormones and all of the “correct” metrics that come from blood panels. As we are energetic beings I believe there is more to CONCEIVING then just the right window of sexy time and happy hormones.

It’s been a journey one with loss, sadness, anger, fear, worry, confusion, joy, alignment, and the in between. My fertility journey left me wondering if I would ever be able to hold a baby full term. Our systems are very intelligent and know what they need. But often times we avoid, forget to listen, or simply haven’t built the awareness to see and hear the queues our bodies are speaking to us.

Being 23 weeks pregnant right now with a little dude on the way I was reflecting to what happened since my last miscarriage in July 2018. I was brought into a deeper space of healing, womb wisdom, and energetic healing that I didn’t know was waiting for me. Below I share the 3 rituals/tools that I believe gave me the space to be able to hold this little boy and welcome him into the world in late August! We are beyond blessed to be on this journey and I am excited to share more. Let’s dive in!

The 3 Rituals that You May be Overlooking in Your Conception/Fertility Journey:

Ancestral Healing.

Womxn carry 7 generations in their wombs. We carry the lineages of all of the womxn that came before us in our lineage. This means the pain, suffering, anxiety, worries, love, passion, courage, conditioning, and habits. ALL OF IT! We also carry all of the sexual energy of partners we’ve been with in the womb- unless you’ve consciously cut the cords and clear that up! Ancestral healing is one of the greatest areas I found myself discovering and understanding more of in a deeper way. This also greatly impacts your business, partnerships, self connection, and understanding of your power. Our womb is the SPACE that conception happens in and will carry the baby until it arrives earth side. What are you holding onto that isn’t yours that is blocking your babes from coming through? Is there sexual trauma from someone you’ve been with that needs clearing. When you’re intimate with someone all of their karma/energy goes into your space. That space needs clearing darling. You don’t need to carry someone’s burdens and lessons in your divine portal!

Yoni Steaming.

An ancient practice that has been used in Africa, South America, Asia for many years. Essentially you sit over a pot of steam that carries certain herbs that cleanse, nourish, and heal your sacred space. This is said to release emotional, physical, and spiritual traumas/stagnation that are occurring in your sacred space, the womb! Everything from clearing the energy to strengthen the uterus walls. Ladies, this is a practice that you can bring in if you experience PMS, pain, or irregular moon cycles. As, PMS symptoms and irregular moon cycles are a sign of imbalance happening in the body. Therefore, to conceive you will want to regulate and balance your system before opening up the space to conceive.

Yoni steaming more than sitting on a pot of steaming herbs. It’s a way for you to connect back into your divine feminine and build a intimate relationship with her.


When this little boy comes earth side in August I will return to this practice once my physical healing of birth has taken place and I am okay to begin practices again. I do greatly miss this regular practice.

Forgiveness

I feel everything in life comes back to forgiveness. Having trouble with something? Something isn’t going the way you thought it would? FORGIVENESS seems to be the common thread. Forgiveness of self, others, and the experience we are or have been part of. I began a journey of massive forgiveness with my entire life. Every experience, person, place, feeling… all of it! But I didn’t just leave it at I forgive. That meant surrendering all of the pain, suffering, shame, guilt, fear, and worry that came with those experiences. Then, taking courage steps after. No matter what happened before, I would reach out. I would show up and share space even if it was uncomfortable. I would write letters. I would express the emotions that came up in a safe space. I gave myself permission to let go and not carry what experiences I’ve witnessed in my past. Mindset Tip: YOU ARE NOT YOUR EXPERIENCES! YOU ARE YOU, WHOLE AND COMPLETE! No matter how traumatic or ‘easy’ your life was like leading up today. IT IS NOT YOU! You are you and you have a choice to operate from a place of being the administrator of your own life/actions or you can blame and allow your the past run your life and future actions.

Forgiveness is still a theme in my life- I don’t think forgiveness ever stops.. How can I forgive and let go? What is one action I can take to forgive and show up as the most mature, alive, and vibrant womxn as possible. You can easily say I forgive you…. but that’s not true forgiveness work. True forgiveness work is doing the uncomfortable work no matter how painful or how long it takes. Forgiveness can not be rushed.

Alongside this work my day to day looked a lot like this:

  • Seed Cycling (SOOOOO POWERFUL! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT)

  • Hormone Balancing Foods- avoiding all highly inflammatory foods

  • Stress Reduction and Rest- meditation, breath work, and nature!

  • Kundalini, Kundalini, Kundalini, and more Kundalini

  • Deeply connecting back to my divine feminine and allowing myself to express the journey and not be silenced anymore.

I am not sure if these will resonate with you although my wish for you is to find what works and always be guided to surrender to what you’re attaching onto and ALLOW. Pregnancy is all about allowing. When we allow and let go- we will conceive. Many women will say when they let go, it all happened! And, quickly ;) !
